Joyful stories from real child sponsors

Usama A., from South Carolina, met his sponsored child, Darius, in Rwanda last year.

The Bible tells us that pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones (Prov. 16:24).

So I'd like to share with you some delicious words ... stories of transformation in unexpected places. You see, rarely does a person expect to himself be changed as a result of sponsoring a child. But God uses all sorts of things to tug at and mold our hearts and minds.

Read real quotes from real sponsors:
"[Hana] is our little sponsored child in Zeway. We chose her because she is the same age as our second daughter. To hear my children pray for her needs and to get her letters is a delight. Hana can’t write yet, but she draws us pictures. Praying for Hana has grown a love in my heart for this little girl. I long for her, sometimes, as I do for my own children. I know this love is God-given, and I am so thankful for how our sponsorship of Hana has given us kingdom-minded priorities. Sponsoring Hana has filled a need in our hearts, just as I hope we fill some of her needs!”

I get much joy from sponsoring my child...she writes me regularly.   Thank you so much for her.  The very best money I spend every month.”

“Hi! I am a single mother with three children. A little while before LifeLight [Christian music festival] last year, I was considering sponsoring a child, but wasn't sure how or where it would take place. I was excited to have such an opportunity that was very easily managed by simply taking a packet and starting the donation process. My children were surprised that we were "adopting" a child, and we made it a family effort. We gave up cable TV (which runs close to the $28/ month) in order to sacrifice for our new brother in Ethiopia. It hasn't been easy not having cable, as the world and peers are often referring to this or that show, but the children and I have spent more time doing meaningful activities without the TV. I often refer to our child in Africa when the kids have spoiled-child syndrome, start getting too materialistic in their thinking and desires, and when they complain about school or chores. The reality of the way people live in another country compared to our own is humbling. We have so much, take a lot for granted, and need to be thankful for the blessings and freedoms we have in America. I will never regret all that we have learned from a child of God whom we will meet someday in heaven."

All of us here at the Artist Program are so incredibly encouraged and challenged by the hearts of these strangers who shared their sponsorships stories with us.

Please share your story with us!
