Lebanon has been struggling with some of the most unimaginable crises on the planet in recent years, including a dire socio-economic situation in the country. On an ongoing basis, Lebanon is dealing with one of the largest refugee populations in the world.
Food for the Hungry (FH) is actively working with our partners to provide relief and meet the urgent needs of the most vulnerable Syrian refugee children and families living in Lebanon.
Currently, 4.3 million of Haiti’s 11.6 million people face acute hunger, while 1.4 million are on the brink of starvation.
State of Emergency declared after armed gangs stormed a major prison, allowing hundreds of violent criminals to storm the streets of the city. Port-au-Prince is now under the control of these gangs.
A crisis management team has been assembled to assess the greatest needs of people in crisis-affected areas and is working to identify the best ways to connect them with necessities like food and clean water.
60 staff members are dispersed across Haitian communities, serving families and meeting urgent needs. With so many internally displaced people and food security concerns, the team is working diligently to help.
All 15 borehole wells targeted for rehabilitation after the cyclone are now fixed and in operation. FH continues distributing water purification tablets to insure families drink clean water.
FH provided 1,100 households with food vouchers that allowed families to purchase rice, maize meal, beans, vegetable oil, and salt. Additionally the same households received cabbage and tomato seeds, along with hoes to help replant ruined fields.
