campus ministry overview

Why another campus ministry?
You might ask the question, "There are literally dozens of different campus ministries trying to reach the University crowd today, why add to the mix?"
The answer is simple: we seek to carve a distinctive niche. "These are people who are less interested in attending church than in being the church," writes George Barna in his most recent cultural analysis. Similarly, we desire not simply in teaching the gospel, but in embodying the gospel. Today’s college students seek connections to people who are doing more than talking about theology or simply listening to Bible talks.
The message must be linked to real ministries that meet real needs. The gospel must be taught with clarity and relevance, but must be shown in action with the same clarity and relevance. And here is where our niche resides – in reaching out to share the love of Christ in word and deed, striving to meet spiritual and physical needs worldwide, advocating for the poor and disadvantaged. We will not be content with word ministry alone. Also, what we will focus on is building a community that is present on the entire campus and not simply focused on reaching the student body. We want all groups on campus – students, faculty, staff, and administration - to interconnect to build a community for the purpose of extending into surrounding communities and around the world, all toward the vision of meeting spiritual and physical needs worldwide.
