Campus ministry speakers
Food for the Hungry staff speak at mission conferences, special events, and church services around the world. Our commitment is to make known God’s heart of compassion and to meet physical and spiritual needs worldwide. We are convinced that every person who walks the earth is both physically and spiritually hungry. We speak to make known and meet these physical and spiritual needs.
Bo White
Senior Manager, Internships/Campus Ministries
Bo is responsible for the vision and mission of the internship/campus ministry initiatives within Food for the Hungry. His time is spent creating internship opportunities, speaking with campus ministry partners, developing the internship/campus programs, training and teaching students to think about the Bible, faith, and contemporary culture.
He joins Food for the Hungry with a B. A. from Central College and an MDIV from Covenant Theological Seminary. He has studied and worked extensively in the United Kingdom, has taught English in China, and has continued his education through Regent College in Vancouver. His articles have appeared in Youthworker and on various web magazines and after a decade in student ministry, he still likes to read, retains delusions of being a writer, and enjoys R.E.M., chocolate, mysteries, and grace. Bo lives with his wife and two children in the Phoenix area.
Julie Short
Administrative Coordinator
Julie gives structure to the ongoing internship/campus ministry initiatives and is responsible for interacting with interns, campus chapters, and various business or collegiate officials to insure the success of the program. Julie is involved in training, mentoring, and being the administrative force in a rapidly growing department.
She has a B.A. from Anderson University and will graduate in June, 2006 with a M.A.T. from Fuller Theological Seminary. She has traveled extensively in Western Europe and brings years of experience working with church leaders and community officials in both teaching and administrative roles. Both Julie and her husband Colin are actively involved in Community of Hope, a church plant in Maricopa, AZ. Colin serves as Pastor of Family and Students while Julie is involved with outreach and teaching. Julie loves to read, travel, hike with friends and attend sporting events with her husband. Saturdays in the fall are reserved for Ohio State football!
Mark Klink
Associate Director of Mobilization and Training
God has given Mark a passion for many things, including relationships, teaching, the poor, and missions. He is fortunate enough to live these passions out in his position as the Associate Director of Mobilization and Training for Food for the Hungry’s Micah Initiatives ministry.
In that role, he mobilizes and helps prepare Christians to serve or study abroad among some of the world’s poorest people. He speaks at colleges and churches nationwide regarding the plight of the world’s poor and the need for Christian holistic community development. He also interacts with college students and helps them discern God’s direction for their lives. Additionally, he teaches Intercultural Studies as an adjunct instructor at Southwestern College in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mark received a Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) from Phoenix Seminary, and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Arizona. He has traveled to many different countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Mark has also served the Body of Christ as a preacher, teacher, and leader of youth and adult ministries.
Anne McCain
Eastern Regional Manager, Advocates
Anne McCain is east coast Regional Manager for Volunteer Advocates. Anne recruits, trains and manages a team of volunteers across the east coast who advocate on behalf of the world’s poor. She also works with churches, schools and organizations that want to get involved in Food for the Hungry’s ministry internationally through the Adopt A Community program.
Currently residing in Charlottesville, Virginia, Anne holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.A.T. from Westminster Theological Seminary. After directing the Children’s Ministry at Trinity Presbyterian Church for several years, she signed up for Arabic classes at UVA and then spent a few months in Beirut, Lebanon, working with Palestinian refugee kids. Anne enjoys speaking and writing, and has been published in World Magazine, the Journal of Biblical Counseling, Beacon and World Relief. She is also the author of The Supremacy of God in Children’s Ministry, published by Christian Education and Publications. An active member at Trinity, Anne serves on the World Missions Committee and has directed the church's annual missions conference. Lately, her proudest achievements have been ranking 5th in her neighbor’s March Madness pool and skiing down a black diamond slope in West Virginia.
Ryan Brown
Short Term Teams Manager
Ryan oversees the short-term team ministry at Food for the Hungry. The short-term team ministry assists churches, colleges, or various other groups in all stages of planning, recruiting, training, and sending a team to serve oversees. They focus on viewing short-term teams as a tool for transformation both abroad and in the stateside sending church.
Prior to coming to Food for the Hungry, Ryan spent 10 years as a stockbroker working with high net worth and active trading clients. Ryan also recorded two nationally distributed CDs and toured both abroad and extensively around the United States performing with the likes of everyone from Bebo Norman and Derek Webb to POD and Five Iron Frenzy. Ryan was recently married and resides in Chandler, AZ with his new wife.
Patrick McCalla
City of Phoenix Coordinator/Communicator
Patrick McCalla is working in the Phoenix area to develop relationships and synergy between established, reputable organizations with a desire to love and bring aid to the needy. His vision is that Phoenix would become an example to other cities of the enormous potential when churches, city leaders, faith based and non-profit organizations work together in meeting the physical and spiritual needs of others.
Patrick recently moved from Montana where he spent the past 11 years managing his contracting company, teaching Bible, coaching soccer and basketball, and working as an associate pastor at Lincoln School Baptist church. He has been an active speaker in youth camps, school chapels, church services, and mission seminars. He has attended the Moody Bible Institute and one of his greatest joys is his wife Sharmin and their three children (Ashley, Josiah, and Kyle).
John Frick
Senior Director of Ministry Partners
The Ministry Partners department at Food for the Hungry is responsible for stewarding donor relations with Major Donors, Churches, Corporations, Foundations, and for cultivating planned gifts. As the department head, John has the responsibility of managing the staff as well as engaging in relationship development with major donors. John recognizes the call to minister to our donors as they partner with Food for the Hungry in taking the hope of Christ in tangible ways to the physical and spiritually impoverished around the world.
John is a gifted speaker and has had many opportunities to address civic, political, and church groups regarding various current events and issues. He is passionate about the cause of the poor both in spirit and in body, as well as giving a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. John comes to Food for the Hungry with an MBA from the University of Phoenix, a BA in Religion and a BA in Marriage and Family Relations from Anderson University, as well as graduate work in Adult Education and Theology. John enjoys basketball, riding wave runners, snow skiing, attending sporting events, the theater, and musical concerts. And most recently, John was married to his lovely bride, Debbie, in a surprise luau get together for close friends and family. He and Debbie reside in Maricopa, AZ.
Marc Kyle (limited engagements)
Senior Director, Micah Initiatives/Hunger Corps
As part of Food for the Hungry’s Micah Initiatives and Hunger Corps team, Marc is leading the charge on creating new ministry opportunities in the U.S. and overseas. His newest challenges include starting academic programs in Africa (Go ED.), U.S. (campus, internship, and Hispanisc ministries) and China (Chengdu academic program).
Before coming to Food for the Hungry in 2003, Marc, with his wife Beth, served seven years as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators in the Philippines. They also served thirteen years on the leadership team of Mission to the World, Atlanta.
Marc and Beth have three children. Daughter Ashley is a graduate of Northern Arizona University and interested in serving with Food for the Hungry in the Philippines. Son Chris is a senior in High School and desires to pursue a degree in music that he can use overseas. Son Drew is seven years old.
