how we are meeting needs in peru:
 |
Agricultural Programs
Problem: Schools in agriculture communities lack the knowledge and technical skills to cultivate vegetable gardens ecologically.
Solution: We are offering technical assistance by training them how to use organic agriculture, and are guiding them into self-sustenance. The best students are trained to be future agriculture leaders, think of things holistically, and learn of the value of vegetables. We also are teaching students to understand and adopt a biblical lifestyle, and encouraging churches and schools to work together to create a rotating fund to sustain gardens. |
 |
Church Development
Problem: Local churches need to strengthen and deepen their understanding of holistic ministry and their view of the kingdom of God, to better serve the communities.
Solution: We are conducting seminars and workshops for this purpose, and holistic discipleship groups are meeting in homes of Child Development Program communities in an effort to grow the church. Follow-up has been organized to assure that teachings are applied and replicated. Local church members are being taught how to carry out service projects in the community, and couples are being counseled and educated on family orientation. |
 |
Child and Family Projects
Problem: Families in eastern Peru are riddled by animistic beliefs, the paternalistic vision of its leaders, low levels of education, parental abuse of children, poor health habits and lack of moral values.
Solution: Through a literacy program, visits to children's homes and Bible studies, camps, Sunday school, and church-initiated projects, we are attempting to teach families to live according to God's plan, to practice biblical principles and to adopt holistic health methods. |
 |
Health
Problem: A variety of health problems arises from negative beliefs and habits in health practices, too much illness and unhealthy sanitation.
Solution: Community health agents will be organized and trained to teach families about good health through meetings and home visits. Latrines and water wells will be installed to improve sanitation. |
 |
Employment Program
Problem: The poor economic status of Peru has created a strong need for new job opportunities, better family income and opportunities to develop God-given talents.
Solution: To create new jobs, and to strengthen families' existing businesses by granting small loans for business creation or expansion, training people in proper use of loans, and instructing families on biblical values that will positively influence their businesses. |
 |
Holistic Community Improvement
Problem: Towns near Pucallpa suffer from a general lack of education and services, and hold destructive and erroneous beliefs.
Solution: Bible studies will be conducted. Leaders will be trained. Children will learn about proper health through clubs. Worldview seminars will be conducted for leaders. And activities will be organized that are conducive to holistic development of people. |
