FH Country Director Keith Wright is spearheading a relief effort to assist the more than 70,000 people who have been displaced by riots and violence. Specifically, FH is working in Kibera, Kawangware, Nairobi, and Burnt Forest (Western Kenya).

Shortages of basic goods such as food, potable water, shelter, and fuel are afflicting many who were already struggling before the conflicts arose. Many houses have been burnt down. One church was burned to the ground in Eldoret, resulting in the deaths of at least 35 people – many women and children who were trying to flee the violence.

A helicopter assessment mission by Kenya Red Cross was conducted and noted that affected people needed urgent humanitarian assistance in form of food and non-food items. FH is not alone in this relief venture – we are joined by several relief organizations and local churches of all denominations.

A number of towns have been cut off from outside help, as many major roads are barricaded by various communities and denying access to road users.
