The December 26, 2004, earthquake which caused a massive tsunami that annihilated huge expanses of coastline will not soon be forgotten.

Food for the Hungry was there within 24 hours providing immediate assistance and has stayed, now implementing long-term development programs to rebuild and restore the livelihoods of survivors. Please use this page as a resource to learn more about what we are doing.

Meulaboh, Aceh Barat Educational Development
The education and livelihood programs initiated by Food for the Hungry and the City of Phoenix for the people of Meulaboh are in full swing. Two times a week, a Food for the Hungry English-speaking staff member meets with a group of local staffers and teaches them English grammar and vocabulary.

PHOENIX, AZ, May 2, 2006 – A team of highly skilled educators, businessmen and advocates representing Food for the Hungry and the City of Phoenix has just returned from a trip to Meulaboh, Indonesia.
