Government Grants

When your gift is paired with granted funds from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), impoverished children, families and communities around the world receive greater economic and development assistance. Thanks to USAID, every $1 you give becomes $18 or more in lifesaving help. The more generous the gift, the more lives are touched as we reach out to the poor and disadvantaged in the hard places.

Government funding does not change the way we approach our ministry – it is simply an indication that USAID finds us to be effective at transforming the lives of poor families and communities. As a faith-based organization we acknowledge that any success we have is through His grace and for His glory!

USAID beneficiary story:

Dzimba Camilo lives in Matacamachaua community of Gorongosa district in Mozambique. As a young child, Dzimba suffered from malnutrition and frequent bouts of diarrhea. When Dzimba’s mother, Nia, joined Food for the Hungry’s nutritional rehabilitation program in Matacamachaua, she learned how to prepare nutrient and calorie rich porridge. In just 12 days Dzimba’s weight increased and he was more alert. Nia also learned about the advantages of breastfeeding, about personal and environmental sanitation, and about the importance of taking sick children to the hospital. In addition, Nia has learned how to plant, harvest and use a variety of vegetables. Pleased with her experiences Nia says, “I am very happy with the nutrition education and demonstrations.  I have seen my son gain a lot of weight within a short time and I am eager to continue practicing what I have learned.”
