The Hunger Strike
The Hunger Strike Challenge is a 24-hour prayer and food-fast. Participants engage in a variety of activities, fundraising, and service projects for the purpose of raising awareness about international and domestic poverty and sponsoring children.
Founded by the Christian music band, Willet, the Hunger Strike is an official partner of Food for the Hungry. History shows that hunger strikes are effective methods to enact lasting change against injustice. As billions continue to suffer through the Global Food Crisis, even more people suffer from spiritual hunger. The time is here for bringing about change.
Hope Packs
The lack of simple supplies like pencils and a notebook can keep a child from attending school. When children go to school, they have hope. And their community is transformed. Food for the Hungry distributes school supplies as one of many measures for bringing God’s hope to children. Your church or group can share this hope with children living in poverty by assembling HOPE Packs. Learn more about Hope Packs.
Change for Life
Through Change for Life, nickels, dimes and quarters will bring hope to those suffering from the AIDS crisis, one of the most severe health problems the world has ever faced. When you get involved with Change for Life, Food for the Hungry will provide your church, Sunday School class, workplace or other group with small containers to collect spare coins for six weeks. As the containers fill up, the accumulation of pocket change will have a big impact:
It’s easy to coordinate Change for Life, and it will be a great encouragement to your group to see how their small change can make such a big change in the fight against AIDS!
