Why does FH send short-term teams to its communities?
FH sends short-term teams to the field for one to two weeks to learn and help with our long-term development work. We ask team members to go with a heart to listen, learn and encourage. As team members experience the field, we hope that they will capture a vision to act as life-long advocates for the poor.
What do short-term teams do in the field?
Teams of eight to 15 people serve for seven to 10 days in a community in Asia, Africa or Latin America. Teams work with local staff as they walk with churches, leaders and families to overcome all forms of human poverty. Activities are culturally sensitive and unique to the needs of the communities, but always include relationship- building opportunities, and at times, a physical project. Our hope is that team members will become advocates of child sponsorship and expand their worldview and heart for the poor.
How are teams created?
Teams are organized and led by an individual through their church or school. These teams are committed to a three – five year relationship with a community. They are considered Community-to-Community (C2C) partners and focus prayer, gifts, advocacy and sponsorship for a specific community. If you are interested in building your own short-term team, prayerfully consider becoming a C2C.
