Crisis in Kyrgyzstan

Food for the Hungry responds to Kyrgyzstan conflict through partners

Kyrgyzstan/ Relief

Days after the ethnic violence started between Kyrgyz and Uzbek ethnic groups in southern Kyrgyzstan, more than 100,000 Uzbeks have fled their homes and now live in refugee camps in Uzbekistan. The recent conflict is believed to be the worst ethnic fighting in the region in the past 20 years.

Kyrgyzstan MapFood for the Hungry's Emergency Relief Unit (ERU) is closely monitoring the situation and assessing how best to meet the needs of the refugees. Currently, it is connecting with the Global Relief Alliance and other partners and churches in the region for possible collaboration in the distribution of much needed food, medicine and other supplies, such as rice, flour and oil, to families fleeing the violence.

Food for the Hungry appeals to its ministry partners and friends to help the growing number of children and families now facing the imminent risks of disease, hunger and death.

Prayers and financial contributions are very much appreciated and will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the victims of the violence. Please make a difference today.
