Food for the Hungry is working with a partner on the ground to provide emergency supplies to 2,000 displaced families living in Pakistan’s registered camps in Swabi and Marsdan districts. Thousands of civilians have fled into refugee camps to seek safety from the fighting between the Pakistan’s army and militants in the country’s north-western region.
Beneficiary families will receive temporary shelters, cooking utensils, water coolers, electric fans, shoes, mosquito nets, bed covers, stoves, mattresses, food and toys for children, and hygiene kits. Counseling support to help ease anxiety and offer reasons for hope will be provided to families in distress, particularly women and children.
As fighting continues and the number of internally displaced people (IDP) escalates, there is an increasing need for basic goods, health care assistance, educational materials for children, sanitation facilities, and other life-saving supplies.
Thousands of displaced Pakistani families are struggling to survive as a result of violence. Your prayers and financial support can help alleviate their suffering. Please consider helping fund Food for the Hungry’s relief efforts in Pakistan and bring hope to many.
Food for the Hungry is partnering with Interfaith League Against Poverty (ILAP) to help provide humanitarian assistance to those displaced as a result of an armed conflict between militants and government forces in north-western Pakistan.
Government and humanitarian sources estimate that there are about 1 million internally displaced people – mostly women and children – living in refugee camps. It is feared that the number could go up to 1.5 million in just a few weeks.
An assessment team will conduct a rapid evaluation of the situation to determine the most appropriate response. In the past, Food for the Hungry and ILAP have worked together to bring urgently needed food, relief goods and health care to Pakistanis who were affected by disasters such as the 2007 cyclone and the 2005 earthquake.
The challenge is huge and requires collective efforts. Please donate now to help meet the most basic needs of many children, men and women displaced by the fighting.
