The U.S. government grant has selected us as the lead agency for the humanitarian response to the Global Food Crisis in Kenya. Because of our proven efficiency and effectiveness at ending hunger in many communities, we've been entrusted to coordinate the efforts of five agencies, including our own.

Because this is a matching grant, we must raise $170,500 to release our portion of these funds -- the first $3 million out of a total of $15 million to be awarded. Each $30 releases $600 in much needed funding. The value of your gift will be multiplied 20 TIMES!

Why Kenya?

Few places have been hit harder by this crisis than Kenya. Because of alternating drought and flooding, 10 MILLION PEOPLE NEED IMMEDIATE FOOD RELIEF.

Last year, violence broke out because of scarce food and water supplies.

One witness recounted how a little boy refused to run from the attackers who held his mother. She quoted his brave words: "Oh my mom! I will not leave you. Let us be killed together."

The survivors in this village and so many other hungry people across Kenya, Ethiopia, Bolivia, Mozambique and other countries desperately need our help. Their most urgent need is for food and clean water. But we also want to help families move on to productive lives. Your gift will provide communities access to food, clean water, seeds, tools and training to plant crops,micro-enterprise programs and more.
