Saturday Trips

Want to keep conversations going?  Interested in savoring the natural beauty and distinct culture of Portland?  We welcome you to join us for an optional trip on Saturday afternoon!


When:  Sat. August 16, approximately 1:30pm - 7:00pm

Transportation:  We will provide transportation to and from both trip packages.

Trip Option #1:  Downtown Portland Package.

The Downtown Portland Package offers a combination of two great Portland locations.

Stop 1:  Portland’s Saturday Market is an open-air market featuring arts and crafts, specialty foods, and live music. Artisans can be found selling goods that they’ve made in and around Portland area.

Stop 2:  Powell’s Books is the largest independent bookstore in the world. With more than a million books, it occupies an entire city block. Powell’s also has a coffee shop, where browsers can read possible purchases and grab a snack.

Cost: $10 to cover transportation, plus money for dinner.  There is no entry fee, but bringing spending money is suggested. 

Saturday Dinner:  Rocco’s Pizza is just across the street from Powell’s Books. Pizza can be purchased whole or by the slice ($3-$4 per slice). Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Trip Option #2:  Multnomah Falls Package.

Multnomah FallsPlummeting 620 feet from its origins on Larch Mountain, Multnomah Falls is the second highest year-round waterfall in the United States. Visitors can hike the 1.2 mile trail that climbs to the top of Multnomah Falls.  This trail provides great views of the falls and the Columbia River Gorge.  

Cost:  $15 to cover transportation, plus money for dinner.  Park entry is free!  

Saturday Dinner:  We’ll dine at the Multnomah Falls Lodge.  Dinner entrée prices range from $16-$25.

Distance from George Fox University:  a 75-minute drive

To Sign Up:  Limited spots available.  To reserve a spot, email TDconference@fh.org by August 1, 2008.  We will do our best to accommodate which package you choose.  However, the trips will depend on attendees' interest and spot availability.
