Celebrate Child Sponsorship Day with FH!

Raise your hands. How many of you have participated in the ever-growing and varied celebratory days designated for things like National Ice Cream Day, World Coffee Day, National Sibling Day, National Dog Day, and more? It seems like a new celebratory cause and its corresponding hashtag pops up every day now.

While we love a good photo of several scoops of ice cream piled high in front of a beautiful wall — we love celebrating YOU more.

That’s why we’re celebrating you today on Child Sponsorship Day!

It’s a special day we have designated to recognize, honor, and thank you for your faithful commitment to transform a child’s life through child sponsorship. We want you to know how grateful we are that you’re making a difference in the lives of vulnerable, precious children around the world. Not only are you helping them, their families, and their communities rise out of poverty, but at the end of the day it’s because of people like you that they now have the opportunity to live out their full God-given potential.

Because of you:

  • Your sponsored child is being blessed with improved nutrition, access to clean water, the knowledge that someone loves them, and hope for a better life.
  • You are ensuring your sponsored child receives better educational opportunities and remains in school throughout your sponsorship.
  • You are enabling the child’s community to implement projects that will help them rise out of poverty collectively, and more!

Currently, Food for the Hungry (FH) has over 130,00 child sponsors — and that number is growing every day. This is truly something to celebrate. That’s why we invite you to share this special day with us.

Here’s how you can celebrate Child Sponsorship Day:

If you’re excited to share in person or online — but need a little help — we’ve got you covered! Here are some helpful prompts to get you started…

  • What made you decide to sponsor a child?
  • What is your favorite thing about sponsoring a child?
  • Tell us about your sponsored child (where they live, how old they are, what they like to do, etc.)
  • What do you pray and hope for your sponsored child?
  • How has your child sponsorship experience impacted you or your family?

If you’re sharing online, don’t forget to tag us in your post! Because we’d love for others to be encouraged by your story, too.

“What this relationship and child sponsorship has done for me is that it’s really helped me change my view of what the world looks like. I don’t know how to help a 14-year-old boy in Mozambique, but God and FH know how to do that. And I can have my part through sponsoring him.”
—Gerald Thomson, FH child sponsor

“Child sponsorship is important because there’s so much to give, even if it’s not monetary. You can give words of encouragement to children who might not ever hear encouraging words. You get to impact a child’s life with friendship. Children don’t necessarily see the monetary side of child sponsorship, but they do see those letters you write to them. You can’t put a price on the love and encouragement children receive from their sponsors.”
—Stephani Liggins, FH child sponsor

“Sponsoring a child has changed me to know that such a small amount a month can really impact a life. It’s one of those things where when I started, I thought I was blessing someone, and I didn’t realize how much I’d be blessed in return. Every time I receive something from him, I’m so happy. I love seeing the change that’s happening in his life and knowing I’m a part of making that difference.”
—Matt Nissen, FH child sponsor

“Child sponsorship is not just going to change just the lives of the children, but it will change the sponsor’s life as well. The impact that they have is not just on the child, but on the entire community. For me personally, I’m changed by seeing what these kids write, what they go through, and the hope that they have. The fact that I can be a part of that is just amazing. I think anybody should sponsor if they’re able to, because they’ll experience what God is doing in such an amazing way.”
—Danielle Hall, FH child sponsor

Thank you!

Throughout the day, we hope you feel encouraged and inspired. And mostly, we want to share our immense gratitude with you today. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for being a child sponsor with FH!
