Celebrating the Birth of Jesus

Every Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Light of the World. This year has brought challenges, uncertainty, and change for each of us. And yet, or perhaps because of this, our celebration of the birth of the Light of the World is even more meaningful.

We have seen the light of our Savior shining bright in the darkness. And we have experienced God’s faithfulness all throughout this year. From communities finding new ways to support children and families amidst the pandemic to the recovery and rebuilding efforts of a devastating hurricane season. And through your continued support and generosity as a child sponsor and supporter.

Preparing Our Hearts

Leading up to Christmas Day is a time to prepare our hearts. A time of Advent. A time to pause in waiting and preparation of the celebration of our Savior’s birth. There are many ways in which we can prepare our hearts. Spending time in prayer. Reading God’s word. Talking with Him about our problems and feelings. Leaning on Him in all situations. Trusting in His promises to us. And remembering we are not alone. God is with us. Jesus’ light is shining here on earth.

Here are some verses to meditate on to encourage and remind us of God’s faithfulness:

      • Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” — Mark 10:27
      • When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” — John 8:12
      • And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4:7

The Light of the World

All around us, we are seeing Jesus’ light shine. Thank you for bringing hope and Jesus’ light to communities worldwide. Merry Christmas from all of us at Food for the Hungry.
