Add Your Prayers to the Praises of Children Around the World

Have You Prayed for the Vulnerable Today?

Ephesians 6 encourages Christians, “Put on the whole armor of God” (Ephesians 6:11 ESV). His truth, His peace, the gift of faith, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the Word of the Lord, empowers Christians to face all the brokenness of the world! Later, Ephesians exhorts Christians  to “pray at all times in the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:18 ESV), persevering and acting boldly on behalf of the gospel of Christ.

As a faith-based organization, Food for the Hungry’s (FH) vision of a future without poverty does not come from the strength of our programs. We do good work. But we are certain that poverty will end…because we have faith in a God. And He has the power to transform the materially poor as well as the materially wealthy but spiritually broken.

Pastor and theologian Tim Keller wrote, “To pray is to accept that we are, and always will be, wholly dependent on God for everything.” That belief is as much a part of FH’s heartbeat as any of our values. We follow Jesus because we need Him. Because it’s the Holy Spirit that brings total transformation.

So this year, on April 19, 2018, FH staff joined children, community leaders, child sponsors, and donors around the world to celebrate how God has been faithful. And to ask Him to continue changing lives. On the FH “Day of Prayer,” you joined with prayers and offered requests to the Lord for FH staff and the children our field offices serve. (Psst…you can still check out the feed from the Facebook event!)

Prayers and Praises Around the World

Heng Sreypov in Cambodia thanked and blessed child sponsors.

Salume in Uganda said, “Thank you for praying for me! I thank God for blessing me through Food for The Hungry, I now get to wear a new school uniform every year, I get to receive school books and when I fall sick am taken care of. I also get to enjoy studying every school term.”

Ruth Ruiz in Bolivia asked that we pray for the children in her community to be successful in their school performance and that the children and teachers would meet Jesus.

One child in the Philippines praised God for blessing her with a complete and happy family.

Nicholas in Kenya offered this praise: “I got a school uniform from FH/Kenya when I had lost all hope and was wearing torn school uniform. I am very grateful to God for the good work FH/Kenya is doing in my community. I also got my school fees paid at a time I had stayed at home for two weeks. It is my prayer that the help we are given will help us to build our future soon as we complete our secondary education.”

Thank you for praying and for praising God for the work he has done!
