Goats can provide meat, dairy, and hides to vulnerable families. Goats also provide fertilizer for vegetable gardens helping to fight malnutrition in children. Since they’re able to withstand harsh climates, reproduce easily, and don’t take up much room, they’re the perfect livestock gift.
How Goats Impact a Family
Alice is a sponsored child in Uganda who lives with her grandparents, as her parents passed away when she was small. Her grandparents struggle to pay for her basic needs like food, healthcare and education. Soon after FH began working in her community, she received a goat. The goat reproduced and now her family has seven goats. Through selling the goats, she has been able to pay for her educational expenses and her family is now thriving.
