Hicks, Heather

SERVING IN PHOENIX, AZ Heather began serving with Food for the Hungry in August 2007 as the HR Training Specialist for FH Integrated. Her journey to FH has included serving in various ministries for the past 26 years including Young Life, College Campus Ministries, King’s Kids, YWAM, Harvest and Disciple Nations Alliance. For five years she worked overseas with YWAM leading Discipleship Training Schools, teaching and training national leaders in dozens of regions where no DTSs existed. Most recently she has been working alongside church leaders here in Phoenix and all over the world, equipping them to understand their role in reaching out wholistically within their communities (being the hands, feet and heart of Christ) and developing a biblical way of thinking, believing and living. She is excited about training national leaders to live obedient, radical, dependant lives that reflect the nature and character of our God, His heart for all His creation, and bring Him glory throughout the FH worldwide family.
Through Heather’s travels, God gave her a love for the nations and a joy in discovering His unique expression found in the people of each nation. Her desire is to serve others wholeheartedly. Out of her love for people, she gives herself to walk with them helping them see God’s purposes and plans for extending the Kingdom of God in all aspects of life. She is committed to care for the poor, broken and lost in a way that would transform and impact their lives, community and her own. Her passion is to know God, obey Him and live so others will see and know His greatness.
Heather is originally from Tacoma, Washington and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Pacific Lutheran University and her Training Specialist Certification from the University of Washington. She spent seven years working as a teacher in both public and private education, five years as a program director for the YMCA and eight years as a corporate business trainer. She enjoys playing her guitar, mountain biking, hiking, snow and water skiing and yard work. She has pursued graduate studies in missions, leadership and biblical studies through the University of the Nations.
Thank you for praying, supporting and joining Heather in the work God has called us all to participate in “Thy Kingdom Come, They Will be done ON EARTH . . .” On behalf of Heather, Food for the Hungry would like to thank you for your support which will allow her to continue her work internationally.
