Country Director of Guatemala

Angelica Villatoro is the Country Director of Guatemala at Food for the Hungry (FH) and serves out of FH’s office in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She has over 26 years of experience in community development work. Angelica joined FH in 1993 as an accountant and secretary in the Ixil region of Guatemala. She was promoted to various roles throughout the years, including secretary in the central office, desk officer, National Education Coordinator, Programs Director, and a Latin American and Caribbean Region Child Sponsorship Advisor. Angelica assumed her current role as Country Director in 2017. In this role, she manages and leads the FH Guatemala team, designs and leads the country’s strategic plan, identifies opportunities and prepares proposals, leads SLT meetings, visits regional offices in Guatemala to oversee programs and encourage local leaders and field staff, and ensures the proper recruitment, orientation, training, development, and care of all FH staff in Guatemala. Additionally, Angelica maintains relationships with regional leadership, affiliates, and the Global Leadership Team. 

Angelica earned a technical degree in social work and a technical and Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Rafael Landívar University in Guatemala. 

She says, “The most inspiring thing for me [in working for FH] is the philosophy. I have had the opportunity to see many changes in FH, approaches, new ideas, etc., but always in its essence, the perspective has always centered on God.”
