Boru Sako is a 9-year-old boy who lives in Kenya with his younger sister and brother, his mother Mary, and his father Isako. The family used to have to fetch water from a water source that was shared with livestock. The water was contaminated and the journey to fetch water was dangerous since herds of animals were also fighting for the water. The family had to carry jerrycan containers holding over five gallons of water back home, which was over a mile walk. Since the water was so hard to come by, they had to ration it out, which severely affected their hygiene and sanitation practices. Water-related illnesses were common for the family. Then friends like you gave the community a water well!
