KEYHOLE GARDEN

$74.00

A keyhole garden can provide sustainable nutrition for vulnerable families by using household waste as compost. Keyhole gardens are especially effective in areas that are typically dry. Since they’re easy to manage, families can grow a variety of fruits and vegetables, helping to fight malnutrition in children and even provide additional income.

HOW KEYHOLE GARDENS IMPACT A FAMILY

Maria and her family of eight live in the arid highlands of Guatemala where there is little space or water. She feared her children would gravely suffer without the necessary nutrients provided by fresh vegetables. Then FH staff taught Maria and her community how to build keyhole gardens. Maria’s first harvest proved this garden was sustainable and efficient at growing high-nutrient crops and says her son, Wilder, is growing well.
