Agriculture Project

Failed crops, natural disasters and generations of inadequate farming practices are keeping communities from thriving when many rely on abundant harvests to support their families. Food for the Hungry and the Sweathawgs work with local experts to support and train farmers in best practices for agricultural success in Placer Bonito. By providing a water distribution system and implementing new agriculture techniques, the community will be able to successfully grow enough produce and raise enough livestock to feed their families as well as earn additional income by selling the excess at the marketplace.

This project will improve food production and marketability of agricultural produce among smallholder farming households, significantly increasing household income and food security for vulnerable families in Placer Bonito.
