We are so encouraged through your stories of hope. Christine had been sponsoring Joel from Uganda for 5 years. One day, she received a letter from Joel saying he was thinking of dropping out of school to get a job and help his parents. Christine wrote back encouraging him to stay in school and prayed for him and his family. Read the beautiful testimony that Christine shares below:

Dear Michael,

I truly enjoyed having the chance to talk with you this past Friday, and would like to reiterate how very thankful I am for Food for the Hungry and the many ways it ministers LIFE to impoverished children and families like Joel’s. I feel so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to be his sponsor these past five years and to watch him grow into a responsible young man of faith with such a tender heart for God. As a result of this experience, I have also grown in so many ways. And as I said, just knowing him has been one of my greatest earthly blessings.

I’ve attached the letter that I shared with you about over the phone and hope it will be an encouragement to all of you to keep on doing what you do. I pray that God will continue to prosper and bless Joel and his loved ones with good health. It is also my solemn prayer that the Lord would make his path straight, and grant him open doors of opportunity to share with others the bounty of what he has gleaned through your ministry. May God bless you all at Food for the Hungry as you continue to show compassion to the world.
