Gifts that make room for love – and put food on the table

Betty and Michal worked hard on their small farm in Uganda, but with limited resources they couldn’t grow enough to feed their two daughters or pay school fees.
“My children were malnourished because we hardly ate one meal a day. And we were never sure of tomorrow. Life was very difficult,” says Betty, a loving mother.

But everything changed when someone kind like you chose gifts of love from the Food for the Hungry Gift Catalog.

Someone like you let their love overflow to equip this hungry family with chickens and more!

“We received chickens that lay eggs,” says Michal. “If you feed them well, they lay twice a day! We can earn income every day from selling the eggs. And at times, we sell the chickens if we need more.

“The eggs are so good to eat! We sell them to pay for our school fees,” says Brenda, age 13.

“We also received seeds,” says Betty. “At harvest time, I take the best produce and sell it. This helps me pay for my children’s school fees.

“Now, we can be sure to eat two meals a day. We have enough money to buy food. I also boil eggs for my children. Their nutrition has improved, and my children are healthy,” she says with joy.

Betty now sells eggs to support her family and can send her children to school so they can build a better future.

Betty and Michal are part of a farming and savings group that also received agricultural training, cows, and soybeans. They’re learning new skills, investing in their farms, and growing more food than ever.

Michal and Betty were also equipped with seeds and new farming skills to grow more food for their family.

Best of all, hope has returned. “We want our children to study very hard and find good jobs,” says Michal proudly. “Their future should also be bright!”

Will you make room for more families like Betty and Michal’s this Christmas? Here are three gifts that can help stop hunger in its tracks.
