Rosa’s story

Look what happens when you empower a mom like Rosa!

Rosa longed to start a business to provide for her two children. Friends like you helped make it happen!

Rosa dreamed of being able to provide for her children and lift her family out of poverty in Guatemala.

“I longed to have my own business,” Rosa says. “But I didn’t have the resources to start one.”

Then someone extraordinarily kind like you gave her a hand up.

Your love opens doors for moms like Rosa

Because someone like you cared, Rosa got the chance to join one of our women’s savings and entrepreneurship groups.

She learned about saving and so much more. Women in these groups receive step-by-step training and support to start and grow their own small businesses.

A new sewing machine was just the start…

Friends like you empowered Rosa to buy a sewing machine, and her business flourished!

With her group’s support, Rosa used her first loan to buy a sewing machine and taught herself to make woven products. Her business flourished.

Small loans helped unlock Rosa’s God-given potential

Once Rosa paid off her first small loan, she took another to start a second business, a small phone-accessories shop. Now she’s even repairing cell phones!

“My two businesses have helped me contribute to household expenses. I want to give my children a better quality of life and better educational opportunities,” Rosa says.

Because someone like you cared, Rosa got the chance to start a business and now she runs two!

Moms can change everything—when they get the chance

“As women we have great capacity; we just need to believe we can accomplish what we set our minds to,” Rosa says.

Now, she says: “I’m training women to empower themselves.”
