5 Daily Devotionals to Draw Closer to God

WRITTEN BY Brooke Wente

Personally, I experience great joy when I’m intentional in choosing to spend time with God on a daily basis through devotionals. Last year, I read the Bible in a year, using the Discipleship Journal Reading Plan for daily readings in both the Old and New Testaments. I found this daily spiritual practice to be so fulfilling. Beyond just learning more about God’s promises and plans, I felt a wholeness in spending time each day in God’s word.

I’ve been reflecting on my experience in reading the Bible in a year, and one of the things that has stuck with me is the daily nature of this practice. As I was reading scripture, I found verses that encouraged the daily walk of our faith, like Luke 9:23, Matthew 6:33, and James 4:8. Having a rhythm and a daily guide kept me encouraged. It kept me connected to God’s word and spending time with Him each day.

Now that I know I need daily accountability and encouragement, I’ve been on a quest looking for daily devotionals. My hope is you’ll connect with one of these devotionals and draw closer to God in your daily walk.
